CECT P168 – Personal review

 CECT P168 Personal review

I purchased the CECT P168 a couple of weeks ago, and I’m incredibly satisfied with it. As I have not seen the “real” iPhone, I can’t make a direct comparison, thus I will only say a few things about the P168. It’s incredibly intuitive, and thus not only easy, but fun to use. The built in camera takes pretty decent pictures and video, however it will NOT replace a digital camera as the quality is not fantastic. You can set your favorite MP3′s as your ringtones, etc. You can set the phone to play a specific ring tone or MP3 when somebody calls. If you have a picture, you can also set it so that the persons picture comes up on the screen when they call. So if you have 50 different people that call you, you can conceivably have 50 different ring tones and pictures, etc. Dialing with the screen is not a problem at all. Much easier than with a normal cell phone in my opinion. The phone is LOUD! I guess it is loud because it has 6 speakers built into it. This is somewhat of a downside because when you set the volume to the lowest setting, it’s still quite loud. If you set it at the highest setting, your neighbors will probably complain, lol. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately for some, the vibrating is quite standard, like any phone. It will play video, however, you should use a converter of some sort to reduce the size of the video file. By size I mean both the file size and also the “screen” size. The video playback is ok, but I have not found the perfect “conversion” settings just yet to make watching movies or TV shows quite comfortable. So, it’s not the best video player out there in short. It does do voice recording, and at very good quality. The speaker phone function works well. It’s storage capacity can be expanded via a larger microSD card, definite bonus. The headset uses a non-traditional connector, but, whatever, it’s not a BFD. The back battery cover is very hard to pull off. There is a youtube video of a guy demonstrating 1 way of pulling the battery cover off, but actually it was not the best for me, my hands apparently are not as strong as his were. I use a different technique which is much gentler on the phone, certainly also this technique won’t ruin the back cover either. Battery life is good. My phone lasts about 1.2 weeks on standby with the bluetooth turned off. Internet access is great (once you configure it properly to work with your carrier). You can install 2 SIM cards into it, but you can only use 1 of SIM cards at a time, but it’s very easy to switch between the SIMS via the menu options.

It comes with only 1 game, and I actually have so far not seen anywhere I can get more games for it. The OS this phone uses, from what I understand, was written using Trolltech’s Qtopia development platform. I’m certain games and applications will eventually pop up on the web, but I have not seen them to date. It could be that applications exist, but my knowledge of what programs would be compatible with this phone is not great, and without this knowledge, I might simply be overlooking programs that could work with it. It’s a great phone. Is it better than the real iPhone?? I don’t know. Plenty of people say it is, others say it isn’t. If your a sensible person, I hope you realize most of these people are full of shirt, only he who has both phones can truly say which is better.

This is for sure the easiest, must functional, and most practical phone I have ever owned.

Hope this helps! If you want more specifics, please add extra details to your question and I’ll try to tackle them.
